And Jeroboamsaid to his wife, Arise, I praythee, and disguisethyself, thatthou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, whichtold me that I should be kingoverthispeople.
And the LORDsaiduntoAhijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboamcometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thusshaltthou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shallfeignherself to be anotherwoman.
And it was so, whenAhijahheard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thouwife of Jeroboam; why feignestthouthyself to be another? for I am sent to theewithheavytidings.
And rent the kingdomawayfrom the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thouhast not been as my servantDavid, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do thatonlywhich was right in mineeyes;
Therefore, behold, I willbringevilupon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off fromJeroboam him thatpissethagainst the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and willtakeaway the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man takethawaydung, till it be all gone.
For the LORDshallsmiteIsrael, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shallroot up Israel out of thisgoodland, which he gave to theirfathers, and shallscatterthembeyond the river, becausetheyhavemadetheirgroves, provoking the LORD to anger.
And Rehoboam the son of Solomonreigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reignedseventeenyears in Jerusalem, the citywhich the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his namethere. And his mother’sname was Naamah an Ammonitess.
