And SolomonmadeaffinitywithPharaohking of Egypt, and tookPharaoh’sdaughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalemroundabout.
And Solomonsaid, Thouhastshewedunto thy servantDavid my fathergreatmercy, according as he walkedbeforethee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heartwiththee; and thouhastkept for him thisgreatkindness, thatthouhastgiven him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
And God saidunto him, Becausethouhastaskedthisthing, and hast not asked for thyselflonglife; neitherhastaskedriches for thyself, nor hastasked the life of thineenemies; but hastasked for thyselfunderstanding to discernjudgment;
And Solomonawoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stoodbefore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burntofferings, and offeredpeaceofferings, and made a feast to all his servants.
Thenspake the womanwhose the livingchild was unto the king, for her bowelsyearnedupon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the livingchild, and in no wiseslay it. But the othersaid, Let it be neithermine nor thine, but divide it.
