And it came to pass in thosedays, that the Philistinesgatheredtheirarmiestogether for warfare, to fightwithIsrael. And AchishsaiduntoDavid, Knowthouassuredly, thatthoushalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.
ThensaidSaulunto his servants, Seek me a womanthathath a familiarspirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servantssaid to him, Behold, there is a womanthathath a familiarspirit at Endor.
And Sauldisguisedhimself, and put on otherraiment, and he went, and two men with him, and theycame to the woman by night: and he said, I praythee, divineunto me by the familiarspirit, and bring me him up, whom I shallnameuntothee.
And the womansaidunto him, Behold, thouknowestwhatSaulhathdone, how he hath cut off thosethathavefamiliarspirits, and the wizards, out of the land: whereforethenlayestthou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
And he saidunto her, Whatform is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is coveredwith a mantle. And Saulperceivedthat it was Samuel, and he stoopedwith his face to the ground, and bowedhimself.
And Samuelsaid to Saul, Why hastthoudisquieted me, to bring me up? And Saulanswered, I am soredistressed; for the Philistinesmake war against me, and God is departedfrom me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I havecalledthee, thatthoumayestmakeknownunto me what I shall do.
Moreover the LORDwillalsodeliverIsraelwiththeeinto the hand of the Philistines: and to morrowshaltthou and thy sons be with me: the LORDalsoshalldeliver the host of Israelinto the hand of the Philistines.
And the womancameuntoSaul, and saw that he was soretroubled, and saidunto him, Behold, thinehandmaidhathobeyed thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and havehearkenedunto thy wordswhichthouspakestunto me.
