And Samuelspakeunto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do returnunto the LORDwith all yourhearts, then put away the strangegods and Ashtarothfromamong you, and prepareyourheartsunto the LORD, and serve him only: and he willdeliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
And theygatheredtogether to Mizpeh, and drewwater, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and saidthere, We havesinnedagainst the LORD. And Samueljudged the children of Israel in Mizpeh.
And when the Philistinesheardthat the children of Israelweregatheredtogether to Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistineswent up againstIsrael. And when the children of Israelheard it, theywereafraid of the Philistines.
And as Samuel was offering up the burntoffering, the Philistinesdrewnear to battleagainstIsrael: but the LORDthunderedwith a greatthunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfitedthem; and theyweresmittenbeforeIsrael.
And the citieswhich the Philistines had takenfromIsraelwererestored to Israel, fromEkronevenuntoGath; and the coaststhereof did Israeldeliver out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peacebetweenIsrael and the Amorites.
