But Jehosheba, the daughter of kingJoram, sister of Ahaziah, tookJoash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him fromamong the king’ssonswhichwereslain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamberfromAthaliah, so that he was not slain.
And the seventhyearJehoiadasent and fetched the rulersoverhundreds, with the captains and the guard, and broughtthem to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenantwiththem, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and shewedthem the king’s son.
And the captainsover the hundreds did according to all thingsthatJehoiada the priestcommanded: and theytookevery man his men thatwere to come in on the sabbath, withthemthatshould go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
And when she looked, behold, the kingstood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the landrejoiced, and blewwithtrumpets: and Athaliahrent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.
But Jehoiada the priestcommanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and saiduntothem, Have her forthwithout the ranges: and him thatfolloweth her killwith the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.
And all the people of the landwentinto the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his imagesbrakethey in piecesthoroughly, and slewMattan the priest of Baalbefore the altars. And the priestappointedofficersover the house of the LORD.
And he took the rulersoverhundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and theybroughtdown the kingfrom the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’shouse. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
