And it came to pass in the ninthyear of his reign, in the tenthmonth, in the tenth day of the month, thatNebuchadnezzarking of Babyloncame, he, and all his host, againstJerusalem, and pitchedagainst it: and theybuiltfortsagainst it roundabout.
And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gatebetween two walls, which is by the king’sgarden: (now the Chaldeeswereagainst the cityroundabout:) and the kingwent the way toward the plain.
And in the fifthmonth, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenthyear of kingNebuchadnezzarking of Babylon, cameNebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, untoJerusalem:
And the pillars of brassthatwere in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that was in the house of the LORD, did the Chaldeesbreak in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.
The height of the one pillar was eighteencubits, and the chapiterupon it was brass: and the height of the chapiterthreecubits; and the wreathenwork, and pomegranatesupon the chapiterroundabout, all of brass: and likeuntothese had the secondpillarwithwreathenwork.
And out of the city he took an officerthat was set over the men of war, and five men of themthatwere in the king’spresence, whichwerefound in the city, and the principalscribe of the host, whichmustered the people of the land, and threescore men of the people of the landthatwerefound in the city:
And when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heardthat the king of Babylon had madeGedaliahgovernor, therecame to Gedaliah to Mizpah, evenIshmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Careah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
But it came to pass in the seventhmonth, thatIshmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seedroyal, came, and ten men with him, and smoteGedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldeesthatwerewith him at Mizpah.
And it came to pass in the seven and thirtiethyear of the captivity of Jehoiachinking of Judah, in the twelfthmonth, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, thatEvilmerodachking of Babylon in the yearthat he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachinking of Judah out of prison;
