Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had givendeliveranceuntoSyria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
And the king of Syriasaid, Go to, go, and I willsend a letterunto the king of Israel. And he departed, and tookwith him ten talents of silver, and six thousandpieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.
And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to makealive, thatthis man dothsendunto me to recover a man of his leprosy? whereforeconsider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrelagainst me.
And it was so, whenElisha the man of God had heardthat the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Whereforehastthourent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shallknowthatthere is a prophet in Israel.
But Naaman was wroth, and wentaway, and said, Behold, I thought, He willsurelycome out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his handover the place, and recover the leper.
And his servantscamenear, and spakeunto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do somegreatthing, wouldestthou not havedone it? how muchratherthen, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stoodbefore him: and he said, Behold, now I knowthatthere is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I praythee, take a blessing of thy servant.
And Naamansaid, Shallthere not then, I praythee, be given to thy servant two mules’burden of earth? for thy servantwillhenceforthofferneitherburntoffering nor sacrificeuntoothergods, but unto the LORD.
In thisthing the LORDpardon thy servant, thatwhen my mastergoethinto the house of Rimmon to worshipthere, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow downmyself in the house of Rimmon, the LORDpardon thy servant in thisthing.
But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my masterhathsparedNaamanthisSyrian, in not receiving at his handsthatwhich he brought: but, as the LORDliveth, I will run after him, and takesomewhat of him.
And he said, All is well. My masterhathsent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me frommountEphraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: givethem, I praythee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.
And Naamansaid, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laidthemupon two of his servants; and theybarethembefore him.
And he saidunto him, Went not mineheartwiththee, when the man turnedagainfrom his chariot to meetthee? Is it a time to receivemoney, and to receivegarments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?
