ThenNebuchadnezzar the kingsent to gathertogether the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the imagewhichNebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, weregatheredtogetherunto the dedication of the imagethatNebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and theystoodbefore the imagethatNebuchadnezzar had set up.
Therefore at thattime, when all the peopleheard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, felldown and worshipped the goldenimagethatNebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
There are certainJewswhomthouhast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regardedthee: theyserve not thy gods, nor worship the goldenimagewhichthouhast set up.
Now if ye be readythat at whattime ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye falldown and worship the imagewhich I havemade; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the samehourinto the midst of a burningfieryfurnace; and who is that God thatshalldeliver you out of my hands?
Then was Nebuchadnezzarfull of fury, and the form of his visage was changedagainstShadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commandedthattheyshouldheat the furnace one seventimesmorethan it was wont to be heated.
ThenNebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and saidunto his counsellors, Did not we castthree men boundinto the midst of the fire? Theyanswered and saidunto the king, True, O king.
ThenNebuchadnezzarcamenear to the mouth of the burningfieryfurnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the mosthigh God, comeforth, and comehither. ThenShadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, cameforth of the midst of the fire.
And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’scounsellors, beinggatheredtogether, saw these men, uponwhosebodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of theirheadsinged, neitherweretheircoatschanged, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
ThenNebuchadnezzarspake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hathsent his angel, and delivered his servantsthattrusted in him, and havechanged the king’sword, and yieldedtheirbodies, thattheymight not serve nor worship any god, excepttheir own God.
Therefore I make a decree, Thateverypeople, nation, and language, whichspeak any thingamissagainst the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and theirhousesshall be made a dunghill: becausethere is no other God that can deliverafterthissort.
