Behold, I have set the landbefore you: go in and possess the landwhich the LORDswareuntoyourfathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to giveuntothem and to theirseedafterthem.
So I took the chief of yourtribes, wise men, and known, and madethemheadsover you, captainsoverthousands, and captainsoverhundreds, and captainsoverfifties, and captainsovertens, and officersamongyourtribes.
And I chargedyourjudges at thattime, saying, Hear the causesbetweenyourbrethren, and judgerighteouslybetweenevery man and his brother, and the strangerthat is with him.
Ye shall not respectpersons in judgment; but ye shallhear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the causethat is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I willhear it.

And ye camenearunto me every one of you, and said, We willsend men before us, and theyshallsearch us out the land, and bring us wordagain by what way we must go up, and intowhatcities we shallcome.
And theytook of the fruit of the land in theirhands, and brought it downunto us, and brought us wordagain, and said, It is a goodlandwhich the LORD our God dothgive us.
And ye murmured in yourtents, and said, Because the LORDhated us, he hathbrought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
Whithershall we go up? our brethrenhavediscouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and tallerthan we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we haveseen the sons of the Anakimsthere.
And in the wilderness, wherethouhastseen how that the LORD thy God barethee, as a man dothbear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye cameintothisplace.
Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitchyourtents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
SaveCaleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the landthat he hathtroddenupon, and to his children, because he hathwhollyfollowed the LORD.
Moreoveryourlittleones, which ye saidshould be a prey, and yourchildren, which in that day had no knowledgebetweengood and evil, theyshall go in thither, and untothemwill I give it, and theyshallpossess it.
Then ye answered and saidunto me, We havesinnedagainst the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye wereready to go up into the hill.
