Thussaith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thusshall ye say to the king of Judah, thatsent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh’sarmy, which is comeforth to help you, shallreturn to Egyptintotheir own land.
And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whosename was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he tookJeremiah the prophet, saying, Thoufallestaway to the Chaldeans.
ThenZedekiah the kingsent, and took him out: and the kingasked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any wordfrom the LORD? And Jeremiahsaid, There is: for, said he, thoushalt be deliveredinto the hand of the king of Babylon.
ThenZedekiah the kingcommandedthattheyshouldcommitJeremiahinto the court of the prison, and thattheyshouldgive him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’street, until all the bread in the citywerespent. ThusJeremiahremained in the court of the prison.
