His substancealso was seventhousandsheep, and threethousandcamels, and fivehundredyoke of oxen, and fivehundred she asses, and a verygreathousehold; so thatthis man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
And it was so, when the days of theirfeastingweregoneabout, that Job sent and sanctifiedthem, and rose up early in the morning, and offeredburntofferingsaccording to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sonshavesinned, and cursed God in theirhearts. Thus did Job continually.
And the LORDsaiduntoSatan, Whencecomestthou? ThenSatananswered the LORD, and said, Fromgoing to and fro in the earth, and fromwalking up and down in it.
And the LORDsaiduntoSatan, Hastthouconsidered my servant Job, thatthere is nonelike him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one thatfeareth God, and eschewethevil?
Hast not thoumade an hedgeabout him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on everyside? thouhastblessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
And the LORDsaiduntoSatan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; onlyuponhimself put not forththinehand. So Satanwentforthfrom the presence of the LORD.
While he was yet speaking, therecamealsoanother, and said, The fire of God is fallenfromheaven, and hathburned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumedthem; and I only am escapedalone to tellthee.
While he was yet speaking, therecamealsoanother, and said, The Chaldeansmade out threebands, and fellupon the camels, and havecarriedthemaway, yea, and slain the servantswith the edge of the sword; and I only am escapedalone to tellthee.
And, behold, therecame a greatwindfrom the wilderness, and smote the fourcorners of the house, and it fellupon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escapedalone to tellthee.
And said, Nakedcame I out of my mother’swomb, and nakedshall I returnthither: the LORDgave, and the LORDhathtakenaway; blessed be the name of the LORD.
