Be ye not as yourfathers, untowhom the formerprophetshavecried, saying, Thussaith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now fromyourevilways, and fromyourevildoings: but they did not hear, nor hearkenunto me, saith the LORD.
But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not takehold of yourfathers? and theyreturned and said, Like as the LORD of hoststhought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealtwith us.
Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventhmonth, which is the monthSebat, in the secondyear of Darius, came the word of the LORDuntoZechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,
I saw by night, and behold a man ridingupon a red horse, and he stoodamong the myrtletreesthatwere in the bottom; and behind him werethere red horses, speckled, and white.
And theyanswered the angel of the LORDthatstoodamong the myrtletrees, and said, We havewalked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earthsittethstill, and is at rest.
Then the angel of the LORDanswered and said, O LORD of hosts, how longwiltthou not havemercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, againstwhichthouhast had indignationthesethreescore and ten years?
So the angelthatcommunedwith me saidunto me, Cry thou, saying, Thussaith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zionwith a greatjealousy.
Thereforethussaith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalemwithmercies: my houseshall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a lineshall be stretchedforthuponJerusalem.
Cry yet, saying, Thussaith the LORD of hosts; My citiesthroughprosperityshall yet be spreadabroad; and the LORDshall yet comfortZion, and shall yet chooseJerusalem.
Thensaid I, Whatcomethese to do? And he spake, saying, These are the hornswhichhavescatteredJudah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fraythem, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, whichlifted up theirhornover the land of Judah to scatter it.
