There are various kooky ideas out there that the 'name' Allah (as used by Muslims) has pagan origins.

There are similarly crazy ideas that since the Aramaic scriptures use the 'name' Alaha for God, there must be some connection with Islam.

Silly as it may be, these ideas are very common.

Firstly, "Allah" simply means "God". It is NOT a name. It is Arabic for "God" and is used by Arabic Muslims and Christians alike.

Similarly, "Alaha" is Aramaic for "God". It is not a name.

Allah and Alaha are simply the terms used for "God". They are not names, and are not exclusive to any religion.
